Startup Funding News
🇫🇷 🦆 Gourmey, a French cellular agriculture startup, shared the results of an independent analysis of its cost structure. It could achieve €7/kg at commercial scale, without relying on large-scale new facilities or super-large bioreactors. Achieving these prices for poultry products (especially duck and foie-gras) would make Gourmey’s products commercially competitive. This is great news for the cellular agriculture ecosystem!
🇺🇸 🌿 David, an American snack brand, raised $75M after having raised $10M last year. This is a huge amount for a young brand, but this can be explained by the fact that the brand is the new venture of the RxBar creator (sold for $600M to Kellogg). The funds will also be used to acquire Epogee, another startup with a fascinating fat alternative that cuts 90 %+ of the calories of fat.
🇺🇸 🚽 Throne, an American startup, raised $4M to commercialise its smart toilet platform for real-time microbiome diagnostics. This kind of device (alongside non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring ones) could be a game-changer in helping us move towards a more personalised food system.
