Summary
What do we eat today is a question that has to be answered by millions of people, around the world, every day. Given the timeless nature of the question, many ways exist to satisfy this need, but no solution adapts the offering to the personal taste preferences and nutrition needs of the person. Flavourspace develops data-driven technologies that enhance personalization of customer experience. We focus on taste and match people with foods they love. Beside personalized recommendations, our food discovery engine makes recipes and menus adjustable to people's personal needs, so they can e.g. request a version of the dish with less carbohydrates, replace harmful ingredients or make the result more spicy than the original. The engine will automatically replace ingredients and adjust the dish to satisfy all the preferences and constraints, while still preserving the original taste as much as possible. So not only 'What do we eat today', but 'what do we eat that fits our taste and health profiles'. This is the future! Digital food market already amounted to 125 billion euros in 2016; the one for healthy lifestyle and prevention to another 50 billion. Beside technology licenses, Flavourspace provides consultancy services in the area of food data science, consumer journey and personalization. Companies we work with range from small startups (e.g. Winestein) to large multinationals (Philips HealthTech, Weight Watchers). We envision a future food ecosystem powered by consumer-centric technologies and driven by our digital nutrition passport as the currency. Flavourspace team is a combination of experts in Artificial Intelligence, design gurus and business developers with experience in food industry. Our scientific publications have been cited by the IBM Watson team, and we collaborate on the R&D side with Wageningen UR and University of Amsterdam. In Q1/2016, Spanish accelerator ReimagineFood chose Flavourspace as one of the five most promising food-tech startups globally. The mission of Flavourspace is to empower people to deepen their relationship with natural food: to make them better informed, inspire them to eat more healthy, enable them to improvise with recipes and basically, turn the hassle of cooking into an enjoyable process. We have built advanced consumer-centric technology that can serve as anyone's own sous-chef at home, but can also power digital channels of retailers, food delivery services, activity trackers, health apps, etc. Wherever there is meal planning, Flavourspace wants to be there!
