Following our DigitalFoodLab’s report on the European FoodTech, we have updated our list of the 50 most interesting European FoodTech.
Spain is Europe’s fourth agrifood power and tenth worldwide thanks to the quality of its products and raw materials. Compared to other European FoodTech ecosystems, Spain’s is still a bit small in size (notably if we remove Glovo). However, it is bigger than many others, such as Italy’s or Eastern Europe’s.
Here is the third edition of our TOP French FoodTech startups. The French FoodTech ecosystem is booming, with €875M raised in 2021, 40% more than in 2020. To highlight this, we have selected 30 startups this year, up from 25 in the two previous years.

From the 3,500+ active startups on the continent, when we were working on DigitalFoodLab’s report on the European FoodTech, we were also looking for the most interesting ones with the idea of creating a snapshot of Europe’s FoodTech ecosystem in 2021. Hence, we have created a list of the 50 most interesting European FoodTech startups.
Most entrepreneurs want to create “billion-dollar companies” like this “unicorn” status is a synonym with fame and also implies that you are starting to disrupt your ecosystem. But, how many reach that goal in FoodTech?

AgTech is composed of startups disrupting agriculture. They come up with solutions to improve farming output and quality using drones, sensors and farm management software. If we look at data, we can see that investments have risen slowly from $1.6b in 2014 to $2B in 2016 and then have known a steep increase in the last two years (almost $5B in 2018).
